16 Ways to Think Healthier Every Day.

  1. The world doesn’t owe you anything.  Often, one of the biggest threats to mental health is to think that you are entitled to everything.  It can be painful when you lose something.   No, nobody is entitled to anything except developing a healthy mind and thinking positively about life.
  2. Feel grateful that you live in a stable democracy with freedom of speech. I am grateful that I can run my own blog.
  3. The world is not against you. There is no conspiracy against you.   Playing the victim card is reactionary and does not help you grow as a person.  This goes back to point # 1.
  4. Trying too hard to prove yourself? It comes from insecurity. Insecurity is the opposite of confidence.
  5. Don’t take life too seriously or you won’t be able to breathe. Just think: what does it mean in the grand scheme of things?  What does getting rejected from a Harvard Ph.D program mean in the grand scheme of things?  Nothing. You are better off somewhere else.
  6. For every worry weighing on your mind, there is somebody out there with ten times more worries. Why are they not complaining? Because they are stronger than  you are. If they can be strong, so can you.
  7.  Accept that life is unpredictable. The ups and downs of life are inevitable.  There is nothing you can do to change that.
  8. Accept that the world is not fair. Some people born into wealth or a privileged background are going to be miles ahead but that does not mean that you should resign to your circumstances.  If the world were fair, there would be no politics.
  9. Know that you are not alone in whatever battle you have been struggling with. Develop a social circle who can understand and help you.  Do not be afraid to reach out to people.
  10. Most people are kind and very willing to help others. Have faith in humanity.  You just have to make an attempt asking for help. There is nothing wrong with asking for help.  We all need each other.
  11.  Understand that everybody has struggles, rich or poor, but just different types of struggles.
  12. Most people who got where they are today have worked hard. For every success a person has had, there are at least ten failures. Just ask Michael Jordan.  What most people see is the success, rarely do they see the failed attempts.  We are all human.
  13. Do not be discouraged by setbacks, failures or rejections.  The best is yet to come.  It’s the universe telling you that you belong somewhere else. Just ask Jack Ma (founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba) who was rejected by KFC and 30 jobs and now he is one of the richest men according to Forbes.  You just do not know what fate has in store for you.
  14. Hard work will pay off but you just need a firm direction.  Know what you are good at and keeping working towards it.
  15. Think you have no good friends?  There are always communities you can join where you can meet like-minded people.  There are 7 billion people on the planet, why are you obsessed with one or two toxic people?  Don’t be hard on yourself.
  16. Stop keeping up with the Joneses.
